The weather was perfect tonight, so I grabbed my bike and rode all the way to Lettuce Knit.
Amy and I had a blast, we are both knitting green projects. Hers is Tuscany from her No Sheep book. I am knitting a lace camisole from the new book I bought, Knitting Lingerie Style.

Amy gave me a Knitty sticker to put on my bike.

And here I am, ready to go home. Notice the reflective tape? I am terrified of being ran over in the middle of the street, so I stuck it all around the bike for maximum visibility at night. I know it kinda ruins my nice bike, but safety first. Or what do my 3 readers think?

I am so excited, one of my favourite Toronto activities is happening this weekend. It is the Doors Open Toronto weekend.
This year I want to expand my visits to the more obscure buildings. I almost have visited all of the main buildings, like 401 Richmond, it’s an amazing building, but I go every week since that’s where I have my flamenco class, so no need to visit. Or the Flatiron building, come on, it’s like my home away from home! It’s the same situation for a couple of buildings, being a downtowner I get to visit them during the year.

The Arts and Letters Club on Elm street
Coach House Books on Huron street
Leslie Street Allotment Gardens

Now that spring is here, the Farmers’ Market on the North side of St. Lawrence Market is filling up with better and better delicious goodness. On Saturday I went and bought a lot of veggies. Among the things I bought were potatoes and garlic.
Since I was going to grill some other veggies, I decided to make my special roasted potatoes with garlic and parsley.

Ingredients:
One pint baby potatoes, halved
3 teaspoons olive oil
6 cloves of garlic, sliced
Sea salt
Parsley flakes

Prepare a “pocket” with foil and place the halved baby potatoes and the slivered/sliced garlic.
Spread it with the olive oil, sea salt and dehydrated parsley flakes.

Fold the “pocket” and bring it to the barbecue. Grill on high heat for about 20 minutes.
It’s that easy. The potatoes were crunchy and garlicky and oily and delicious!

And remember my dear readers, eating local, is healthier and uses less fuel. Help your local farmers, it is always good to know the person who is growing your food.

I’m sick. Again. I have a sore throat, my throat is so inflammed I can hardly swallow and I am coughing up a lung. I’m not sure how I got it, but I’ve felt sick since Tuesday.
Last Friday I went for dinner with Joyce and Jean to Red Lobster. Joyce had a cold. On Saturday after my usual hospital stint I biked more than 10 km to James’s house. It was a beautiful ride by the water and it was a great afternoon. Later we went to Stef’s birthday party and ended the night dancing. Bex had a sore throat that later developed into a cold. I suspect I could have caught the cold from either of them.
I feel like I’ve been sick all year, and it’s already May.

*UPDATE* Jean is sick too. She also has a cough. We are thinking it was indeed Joyce who we caught it from.

I’ve been super busy lately and haven’t had much time to post. I haven’t even taken many pictures!
But, I recently received Educating Peter by Lettie Teague. I like the subtitle in this book “How I taught a Famous Movie Critic the Difference Between Cabernet and Merlot or How Anybody Can Become an (Almost) Instant Wine Expert”.
I am excited about starting to read this book, because I am also a bit of a neophile neophyte with respect to wine. OK, I’m not that bad, at least I know that there is red wine, white wine, rosé wine and sparkly wine. Oh, and let’s not forget Portuguese green wine. I want to go for a Niagara winery tour soon, just for fun, but it wouldn’t hurt to know what is going on.
The book is published by Simon & Schuster and is $25 USD. The publication date was March 13, 2007 so it’s quite recent.
So I’m going to start reading it and I’ll give an update to my readers as soon as have some comments to make. Maybe I’ll become an (almost) wine expert soon!

So with this busy week I’m totally doing the urban life, I love it love it love it!

Going to the baseball on Tuesday was a bit sad, though. The Blue Jays were crushed by the Red Sox. Oh well, there was beer.
Last night I went to the opera and it was beautiful, Richard Bradshaw, the General Director of the Canadian Opera Company was the conductor. After the tenor sang one of the pieces, he even applauded him. It was great.

Tonight I have my flamenco class, and I’ll use my brand new bike to get there. You read it right, I got a new bike! I’ll have more info, and pictures at the end of the week.

This is the start of one busy week for me:
Monday I have flamenco class: The recital is approaching (June 23 at the Isabel Bader Theatre) and we have to rehearse the whole dance. We will probably have to cancel one of the dances (my class was originally scheduled for 2 dances) because we don’t quite know the second one. So this week I have flamenco on Monday and on Thursday (my regular class).
Tuesday: Blue Jays VS Red Sox. Fun fun fun baseball game. Oh, and new episode of House!
Wednesday: Opera, I am going to see Luisa Miller by the Canadian Opera Company.
Thursday: My regular flamenco night.
Friday: Red Lobster dinner with Joyce (OMG, I’m already starting to think what I’ll have for dinner, mmmh) and drunken knitters later.
Saturday: Volunteering at the hospital and then Stef’s birthday party.
Sunday: Probably sleeping!
