Why do some people not understand the difference between a towel and a wiping cloth. It’s no good to wipe the sink with a hand towel. It IS A TOWEL! If you’re really so keen on wiping/cleaning the sink, let me know, I’ll take out the Mr. Clean and you can clean the whole bathroom!
Same in the kitchen, a dish towel does not equal a wiping cloth.
While everybody and their compadre is talking about the Boxing Day Sale at Lettuce Knit, I have to report that, sadly, I couldn’t make it. I was in Niagara Falls winning $200 in the Casino!
Anyway, I do have some knitting content to report on. I FINALLY made some progress on the Opera Scarf. 
I’m making it with a ball of ArtYarns Ultramerino, it is a beautiful yarn.
After SEVEN attempts at starting it, I finally have some progress done. I’m using 7 mm needles since the yarn is a bit stretchy and the 5 mm they call for were not giving me gauge (the original yarn they call for is Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca and Silk a beautiful yarn for sale at Lettuce Knit, but I didn’t like any of the colours, so I decided to substitute with Ultramerino).

I just sent my parents to the supermarket (Dominion on Front and Church). I gave them a list and decided to give them my cellphone just in case they got lost. They were like “of course we’re not getting lost, do you think we’ve never been out or what?”
Five minutes later I get a phone call, it was my mom. She started laughing. They were lost. They managed to get to Jarvis and Richmond, not King and Jarvis as I told them, they didn’t know what to do. I told them to walk south to Front St. I hope they make it!
Hilarious.
Can my 3 readers and fans believe that I was carded TWICE to get into the Niagara Fallsview Casino? I wanted to stop there and kiss the guy or something! I mean, I’m over thirty (no more specifics, that’s all you need to know!).
So the Coach Canada package that we bought at the Bay and Dundas bus terminal includes a $10 voucher for tokens to be used in the casino. I was sitting there, at a slot machine and had spent $9.50 in 10 minutes. I was getting a bit bored (after all, I’m from the PacMan generation, where a lot of skill was needed to play and play and play and not just press a button and see if you won like it is with the slots). So anyway, I was sitting there saying to myself “self, you’ll finish the $10 they gave you and go to the bar and get hammered, that’s more fun than sitting here and spending money this fast”. I pressed the button (newer slot machines do not use a lever anymore, you don’t even have to exercise your arm muscle, just your index finger pressing a button) and next thing I know the machine was beeping and flashing. I won $200! Not bad for the $10 that were given me as a bonus, eh!
Today we went to The Keg for lunch. It is a beautiful place with a great view of The Falls, even a nicer view that you can see from our hotel window at the Fallsview Resort. Well, the food took 45 minutes to be brought to us. Needless to say we weren’t impressed. They said it was because there was this big table, with 30 people just before of us. Well, that’s no excuse, I believe, it is a HUGE restaurant. Anyway, we complained to the manager and got 50% off our bill. I think that was a nice way to take care of things. Good thing we weren’t in a hurry (actually, we may have even saved more money, since we sat there for 1 hour, saved $42 on lunch and did not spend that time in the casino, it was probably an even bigger saving).
I’ll be going to the Ice Queen’s New Year’s Soiree. I will be wearing a gown. Stay tuned for more info.
I remember the first time I heard of an opera rock. It was a musical but with more modern music. I think it was Jesus Christ Superstar.
This time I went to my first ballet rock ever: Movin’ Out.
All the music is by Billy Joel, and there is this guy on the piano performing it(for the show I saw, Wednesday matinee, it was Darren Holden). He is amazing. It is the story of four friends that finish high school in the sixties, and how the guys go to Vietnam, and how they evolve in the next 20 years. They are all dancers. They never talk, it’s like a ballet, the story unfolds but it all happens through dance. They never sing. And since there’s no need to sing, they are professional dancers. Their work was spectacular.
The guy who performed Eddie for my show was Ron Todorowski. Oh my god, he is such a good dancer and not to be missed. The other characters where performed by Holly Cruikshank, David Gomez, Lynda Sing and Matt Dibble (I love that last name, doesn’t it sound like a Flinstones character?)
Movin’ Out is a great production and not to be missed. It’s a shame that it has only about 3 or 4 more performances to finish its run.

Today I saw a horse from an old carrousel. I loooved it!
This could just be the weirdest Christmas Gift I ever got. It arrived today by mail. 10 points to whoever can tell me what it is, and an extra 20 points if someone can guess who it is from.
So my parents lost their connecting flight from Chicago. They were put on the next flight, the one which arrived at 8 PM. They came out Gate C on Terminal 3 of Pearson Airport at 9 PM. It was quite exciting and tiring, since I had been standing there for almost an hour, before that I had gone to the bar, since I didn’t really know what time they were gonna get into town so I was at the airport at 6:40. I even finished my book (Casino Royale, by Ian Fleming).
We’ll go to the theatre today, later we’ll go for dinner (since we’re going to the matinee show, we’ll be done at about 4:30). I have no other plans, maybe Kensington Market tomorrow? They have been here loads of times, it’s not as if they have to go to the CN Tower. Do we have any other things to visit? I’m not sure. What I know is that we’ll be going to Niagara Falls on the 26th, coming back on the 28th. Clara and Jeremy are going to be there and we are meeting for lunch or dinner, probably on the 27th. That’s about all my plans.
